July Youth Camp - Nebraska Players

Date: July 18-20 (Friday - Sunday)

(Entering Grades 3-8)

The Husker Youth Camp is designed to provide participants entering grades 3-8 with opportunities to develop and improve their football skills in a fun, safe and enjoyable non-contact atmosphere.  Campers attending our JULY Youth Camp will be led in instruction by our current Nebraska Players and some select visiting coaches.  Our players will instruct campers in fundamentals of football and the fun aspects of the game.  This camp encourages each camper to develop new skills and learn techniques that can be used at any level of football.  The camp promotes teamwork by organizing all campers into teams based on age groups.  These teams compete in a fun, organized game of touch football called Husker Ball.  The Championship Games of Husker Ball are held inside Memorial Stadium the last morning of Camp.  These games, along with a Punt and Pass competition, allow campers to test their skills against others in their age group and position.   Above all, the Husker Youth Camp seeks to teach the fundamentals of football while promoting a fun, enjoyable atmosphere.  Parents are welcome to any and all practice sessions.

What to Bring: Please bring anything you may need for practice – T-Shirts, Shorts, Socks, Football Shoes (Cleats or Tennis Shoes acceptable) and any additional gear you may need.  For live-in campers, sheets and pillowcases will be provided.  Please bring toiletries (such as toothbrush & toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc.), a bath towel, and a blanket if you tend to get cold at night (the residence halls are air conditioned).   Campers may choose to bring personal water bottles, however all camps are fully equipped with multiple Gatorade stations.  Campers are encouraged to take water breaks whenever necessary.

Cost:      $295 per live-in camper (stay in residence hall)

$245 per commuting camper (stay at home)

               $100 non-refundable deposit

High School Camp

Session I - Date: June 8-10 (Sunday - Tuesday)

Session II - Date: 11-13 (Wednesday - Friday)

(Entering Grades 9-12)

The Big Red Football School has been very successful and our staff implements new ideas every year to make it the best experience possible.  We feel the following factors separate the Big Red Football School from other camps across the country:

Coaching Staff – The Nebraska coaches work directly with every camper at their position during each practice session throughout the camp.  This hands-on approach by the Husker coaching staff enables campers to get direct coaching from the best.  Visiting coaches from across the state and country also provide leadership.  Team leaders who will be assigned to your team will assist you with motivating, encouraging, counseling and instructing campers throughout the week.

Technique & Drills – Drills conducted throughout the Big Red Football School sessions are the exact drills and regiments the current Husker team performs.  The coaches teach and instruct players with position specific techniques and drills that can be carried over into their high school careers.

Exposure – The Nebraska Football staff views both High School Session I & II as terrific opportunities to evaluate athletic talent.  The practices and competition play a pivotal role in evaluating the high school players that stand out at camp.  These camps provide our coaches with a rare opportunity to work hands-on with high school prospects before they graduate from high school.

Facilities – The Big Red Football School provides unique access to the University of Nebraska football facilities.  Camp practice sessions are held on all of our football practice fields, including the turf field inside Hawks Indoor Facility, the Gass Practice Fields – one grass, one turf – and even Memorial Stadium.

Speed Testing & Training – On Day 1 of camp, each participant is given the opportunity to stand out through a series of speed and agility testing – the 40-yd dash, Pro Agility drill, and Broad Jump.  The Nebraska Strength & Conditioning Staff conducts speed training sessions before overseeing each test.  These training sessions offer training and technical advice for each specific test used in performance measurements.

Motivational Speakers & Videos – Each year, a former player or coach returns to Lincoln to take part in speaking to the campers.  The talk centers on what it takes to be successful in football and life.  This message seeks to relay a bigger picture of success to each camper.  Additionally, a Husker Motivational/Highlight video from the 2011 season is shown following practice on Day 2.

Other Benefits – Each camper is placed on teams led by a visiting coach.  Players develop friendships and a sense of teamwork during the 3-day High School Camp Session.   Official 2012 camp T-shirts are included along with the opportunity to purchase additional Husker apparel through our Camp Store.

What to Bring: Please bring anything you may need for practice – helmets, shoulder pads, Cleats, Mouthpiece, Jersey, Socks, Supporters, Shirts, Socks, and any additional gear you may need.  If you are unable to bring your own Helmet and Shoulder Pads, both will be available for rent ($15/helmet, $10/Shoulder Pads) at Check-In.  Please notify the camp staff in advance if you are planning to rent equipment.  If you forget your mouthpiece or practice jersey, these items will be available for sale for $5.  For live-in campers, sheets and pillowcases will be provided.  Please bring toiletries (such as toothbrush & toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc.), a bath towel, and a blanket if you tend to get cold at night (the residence halls are air conditioned).
